Known as the pioneer of Tektribal and Basscumbia, he has become a key figure in the global bass scene. With performances at EDC Mexico, Bahidorá, and international tours in India, his music bridges traditional roots with cutting-edge sound.

Alfredo Olaf López Acuña, better known as FREEBOT, is a DJ and producer from Monterrey, Mexico, born on October 12, 1999. Drawing from Colombian cumbia, regional Mexican music, EDM, and Tribal Guarachero, his musical journey began at the age of 11, when he first started producing digitally.

 

In 2011, a tutorial by Monterrey’s iconic DJ Javier Estrada introduced him to the world of Mexican-tribal music production. Around the same time, dubstep acts like Skrillex inspired FREEBOT to imagine a fusion of pre-Hispanic and regional rhythms with bass-heavy electronic elements. This vision evolved into his signature genres: Basscumbia and later Tektribal, both of which bridge traditional Latin percussion with global club sounds.

 

His debut EP TRIBAL MODE (2020) marked the birth of Tektribal, a sound defined by hypnotic rhythm sequencing and ritualistic energy that resonated deeply across the South Indian sound system scene, especially in Kolhapur and Belgaum.

 

In 2022, FREEBOT broke into the Top 50 Viral Songs in India with “DAME” ft. Aneth, reaching #14, and in 2025, he hit #6 with “BESOS” alongside Shreya Ghoshal, also appearing on Billboard India. These milestones led to two successful India tours across Mumbai, Pune, Goa, and Chennai, solidifying his reputation as one of the leading Latin electronic voices connecting both continents.

 

In 2024 and 2025, FREEBOT expanded his global reach with a successful European tour, spreading the Tektribal sound through London, Barcelona, Budapest, Málaga, Vigo, Berlin, and Paris, performing in iconic venues such as Colour Factory, Razzmatazz, ÆDEN, among others. Each performance showcased his commitment to pushing latin culture into the global electronic scene.

 

Today, FREEBOT stands as a new-generation ambassador of Tektribal in affiliation with

La Chekera Records, blending tradition and innovation to bring Latin roots to the world’s biggest dancefloors.
